Currently EscapeBot supports Speech-to-Text through the functionality provided by the respective operating system. These work very well in most cases. However, we could achieve even better results with AI-driven speech models and are working on implementing them directly in the bot.We expect to be able to provide this functionality in the summer of 2023.

Windows 11

Windows 11 comes with a built-in speech recognition feature that allows you to convert your spoken words into text. Here’s a step-by-step tutorial on how to use it:

The speech-to-text functionality on Windows 11 is powered by the Windows Speech Recognition system, which enables you to dictate text, control applications, and perform various tasks using voice commands.

Step-by-Step Tutorial:

  1. Open the Settings app on your Windows 11 device by clicking on the Start button and selecting the gear icon.
  2. In the Settings app, click on “Accessibility” from the left-hand menu.
  3. In the Accessibility settings, select “Speech” from the options on the left.
  4. Enable the “Speech Recognition” toggle to turn on the speech recognition feature.
  5. Once enabled, you can click on “Start Speech Recognition” to begin using the feature.
  6. A speech recognition window will appear. Follow the instructions on the screen to set up your microphone and complete the speech recognition setup process.
  7. After setup, you can start dictating by clicking on the microphone icon in the speech recognition window.
  8. As you speak, Windows will convert your speech into text, which will appear in the dictated text area.
  9. To stop dictating, you can click on the microphone icon again.

Android

Android devices offer a built-in speech-to-text feature that allows you to convert your spoken words into text. Follow the steps below to use this functionality:

Android devices utilize the Google Speech-to-Text engine, which enables you to dictate text, compose messages, and perform various actions using voice commands.

Step-by-Step Tutorial:

  1. Open the chat app on your Android device.
  2. Tap on the text input field to bring up the keyboard.
  3. Locate the microphone icon on the keyboard. It is usually located near the space bar.
  4. Tap on the microphone icon to enable speech-to-text mode.
  5. Once enabled, you will see a microphone icon with a pulsating circle indicating that the device is listening.
  6. Start speaking clearly and dictate your message. The speech-to-text engine will convert your speech into text in real-time.
  7. After you finish speaking, the converted text will appear in the text input field.
  8. Tap on the send button to send the dictated text as a message to the chatbot.

iOS

iOS devices also provide built-in speech-to-text functionality, allowing you to convert spoken words into text. Here’s how you can use it:

iOS devices use Siri’s speech recognition system to provide speech-to-text capabilities, enabling you to dictate text, compose messages, and perform various tasks using voice commands.

Step-by-Step Tutorial:

  1. Open the chat app on your iOS device.
  2. Tap on the text input field to bring up the keyboard.

  4. Tap and hold the microphone icon to activate speech-to-text mode.
  5. Once activated, you will see a waveform animation indicating that the device is listening.
  6. Start speaking clearly and dictate your message. Siri will convert your speech into text in real-time.
  7. After you finish speaking, the converted text will appear in the text
