Kiosk Mode with Chrome on iOS

Step-by-Step Guide to Setting up Kiosk Mode with Chrome on iOS for Your EscapeBot

Escape rooms are an exciting and immersive experience for players. However, it can be challenging for escape room owners to ensure that players don’t accidentally or intentionally access anything that could compromise the game’s integrity.

One popular app for setting up kiosk mode on iOS devices is Guided Access, which is built into iOS. Guided Access allows you to lock the device into a single app, disable certain hardware buttons, and restrict access to certain features.

  1. Open the Settings app on your iOS device.
  2. Tap on “Accessibility” in the list of options.
  3. Scroll down and tap on “Guided Access.”
  4. Toggle the switch next to “Guided Access” to turn it on.
  5. Set a passcode for Guided Access. This passcode is used to exit Guided Access mode.
  6. Open the app you want to use in kiosk mode.
  7. Triple-click the home button to activate Guided Access. If you have an iPhone X or later, triple-click the side button instead.
  8. In the Guided Access screen, tap on “Options” in the lower-left corner.
  9. In the Options screen, you can:
  • Set a time limit for Guided Access mode
  • Enable or disable touch or motion controls
  • Disable specific hardware buttons, like the volume buttons or the sleep/wake button
  1. To disable a hardware button or feature, toggle the switch next to it. You can also draw a circle around an area of the screen to disable touch controls in that area.
  2. Tap “Done” when you’re finished customizing the options.
  3. Tap “Start” to start Guided Access mode.
  4. To exit Guided Access mode, triple-click the home button or the side button (depending on your device) and enter the passcode you set earlier.
